An air stewardess was badly injured when she fell out of a plane and onto the tarmac at Dubai International Airport after a catering truck crashed into the aircraft.


The flight attendant fell four meters through an open door when a truck belonging to Emirates Flight Catering crashed into the tail of the plane, said local reports.


Marina Zhelyamova was rushed to hospital where she underwent an operation. She is currently in a stable condition, according to an airline spokesman


The Urals Airlines plane, preparing to depart to the Russian city of Perm, was damaged in the incident, and a reserve aircraft was sent to take the passengers to their destination nearly 12 hour later.


The Emirates Flight Catering company said authorities were investigating the incident.
